Behind The Dress Daniela
Daniela is the pinnacle of a fairy-tale romance. Imagine Marie Antoinette’s voluminous yet structured ball gowns in the court of Versailles. Daniela possesses exactly the same kind of regal elegance in an updated version of a strapless bridal gown with a floating silk tissue taffeta and classic cathedral train. “When I set out to design this collection, I wanted to re-examine ball gowns. They are such a traditional, quintessential silhouette. I wanted to reinvent it with a dramatic skirt that really popped!” says Angel of his stunning creation. Daniela’s extreme train is the kind of drama you do not get from a more traditional bridal ball gown. The skirt is a voluminous explosion of pleats and fabric. Not completely abandoning tradition, Angel designed the hourglass shape of the bodice to beautifully contrast the airy, tissue taffeta on the skirt. It delicately nips and sculpts the waist, really drawing the eye to the center of this bridal gown. At the heart of this luxurious gown, as with the other dresses in this collection, is an appliqué of crystals and pleating, one of his boldest crystal patterns yet. Dreamy and diaphanous, Daniela effortlessly embodies everything about Angel Rivera’s return to romance, a contemporary take on classicism.
