Real Wedding | Leah & Andrew

Bride’s Name: Leah Fitzpatrick Groom’s Name: Andrew Lucas Wedding date: June 21, 2014 Wedding location: Pelican Hill Resort – Newport Coast, CA Bridal Gown Style: Amalia from The White Dress, Corona Del Mar, CA Shoes: Badgley Mischka Veil Designer: Renee Pawele Groom’s attire: Joseph A Banks. The ties were by Michael Kors Bridesmaids Designer: The Dessy Group How/when/where did you first meet? It was Labor Day weekend of September 2011. At the infamous Whaler in Venice Beach, Leah met Andrew’s good friend Lance (Andrew was not there!), who told Leah “you should meet my good friend Andrew.” Lance simply said he thought they’d like each other, and while Leah thought it was a bit odd, she gave Lance her number as Lance wanted to set her and Andrew up. A few weeks later, Leah got a text from Lance asking her to meet him & Andrew out in Venice. Curiosity got the best of Leah, so she grabbed her girlfriends and off she went to meet her future husband! How/when/where did the proposal happen? When Andrew & Leah found out Les Miserable was stopping in Vegas for the first time, they were off to Sin City for double the fun!:) Leah loves theater and they both equally love Vegas, so they were excited for this trip. Andrew likes to “cruise the strip” during the day, while Leah enjoys playing her favorite game, Blackjack. On the day of Les Mis, Andrew kept insisting they get ready extra early for their 8 PM show so they could take pictures together by the Bellagio fountain beforehand. Leah thought that was a sweet idea, but after just exclaiming “this is the most fun I’ve ever had!”, she couldn’t figure out why Andrew was dragging her away from her poolside, sun-drenched Blackjack table at 3 PM (with a live 80’s band)! Little did she know, Andrew planned to get down on one knee before the show in front of the beautiful Vegas landmark. Describe the ceremony, what made it unique/special? Everyone we care about was there and a part of the best day of our lives.J  Our vows were traditional but we also each handwrote pieces, which was special and heartfelt. Angelica Strings played the beautiful Canon in D as I walked down the aisle. We had a reading at our ceremony from my favorite musical, Les Miserables. Also, our friend (my bridesmaid’s...

Real Weddings | Julie & Mike

Bride’s Name: Julie Ast Spouse’s Name: Mike Zarb Gown Style: Diane with Mary Sash Boutique: The White Dress, Corona Del Mar, CA Groom and Groomsmen attire: Friar Tux, Temecula, CA Wedding Date: July 11, 2014 Location: Leoness Cellars, Temecula, CA Photographer: Snider Photo & Design, Los Angeles & Orange County Was there a moment of your wedding that you remember most? The most memorable part of the wedding was our first look when Mike and I were able to spend a few quiet moments together before we became husband and wife, it was very emotional and Mike and I both shed a few tears of joy. Tell us your story! How did you and your spouse meet?  Mike and I first laid eyes on each other early in the summer of 2012 while we were lounging poolside at the old apartment complex we lived in.  Although we never got to speak to each other that day we definitely took notice of each other and exchanged smiles across the pool. It wasn’t until almost three months later that we actually ran into each other while we were out with mutual friends.  I was taking a picture with my girlfriends when Mike and his friend decided to “photo bomb” our picture.  When I turned around to see who had jumped in our picture there was Mike standing with the biggest grin on his face.  I said “You’re the guy from the pool!”  Mike told me he had been trying to track me down the whole summer to meet me and when I heard this I got excited because as it turned out I hadn’t been able to get him out of my mind since that day at the pool either.  We spent the rest of the evening talking to each other and Mike asked me if I would like to go for coffee the next day before he had to leave for a business trip.  I said yes and the rest is history!   Give us the details on your proposal. What little things made it particularly special?  I took Julie to the historic Gaslamp district in San Diego and wanted to re-enacted  some special moments from our first “official” date.  We checked into a quaint yet romantic hotel that her and I loved from our first trip.  One thing that was special about our first date is a very memmorable game of shuffle board at the Typsy Crow where I am proud...

Behind the gown Peony

Strapless silk faille sweetheart mermaid gown with godet skirt back detail and floral beading embroidery. I adore the glamour that Nicole Kidman brought to the screen—and I particularly adored her look in Moulin Rouge. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, of course, but you still need that fabulous gown to wear them with! I took that image of Nicole’s iconic, dripping-in-glamour role in that film as my starting point in designing Peony for a confident, sophisticated gown that isn’t afraid to let on that yes, you know everyone is looking at you. With a va-va-voom mermaid silhouette and dramatic sweetheart neckline, the focus is as much on the shape of the body as it is on the gown. In the front of the dress, it has the beautiful beading on the neckline and the front of the gown is completely sleek and smooth. It ends with a glamorous godet that elongates and lengthens the appearance of the body—which is why it’s such a favorite on red carpets today. When Peony turns around, the world stands still. The back of the gown really is all about the low back and beading on the train. Peony is the uptown sophisticate and the flirt all in one—the red carpet moment.  Stay Glamorous~Angel...

Behind the gown Gardenia

This season I was inspired by a beautiful flower breaking through the soil, and blooming out of the ground  for all to admire.  Gardenia is one of the gowns created from this inspiration.  Made of  silk Crepe and Italian Giupure lace.  Gardenia is a sheath gown with a natural waistline.  Gardenia has a illusion nude sweetheart neckline and hand applied guipure lace bodice.  The back of the gown  has an illusion low back and cathedral train.  Of all the gowns in the Spring 2015 collection, Gardenia is an edgy design, and also one of my favorites.  Gardenia has a precise silhouette, graceful curves and a spectacular contrast of cut out lace to create depth to the gown.  It’s a gown that really speaks to a forward-thinking bride who wants to make a very bold statement on her wedding day—but without any of the traditional poof....
